Watch this video. This is sort of the thing we are dealing with. The biker sees the pedestrian. He speeds up. He could have slowed down and let the pedestrian cross, but instead he sped up. Then he lectures the pedestrian, a poor old woman.

Defending Jaywalking? Walking out from between parked cars mid block?

Aren't you the man who says walking in SF is safe as long as you are careful, and that we shouldn't engineer roads to deal with pedestrians who don't follow the rules?

No, I'm not that man, though being careful is a good way for pedestrians to stay safe. How exactly do you "engineer" streets to protect jaywalkers?
